Ayden Healthcare of Oregon is currently seeking a full-time Unit Manager RN/LPN.
Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this job is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, and directing the overall operation of our Nursing Services Department. This is to be done in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility. The role also involves acting under the direction of the Administrator and Medical Director to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Resource nurse for patient care questions or problems.
- Monitor patient care and environment through daily rounds, independently and with the DON.
- Coordinate ancillary services (PT, OT, Speech) to ensure family awareness and understanding.
- Formulate and evaluate nursing assistants' performance with input from charge nurses.
- Manage infectious disease control and compliance with CDC isolation guidelines.
- Complete MDS+ on all admissions as assigned.
- Monitor the use of restraints, nutrition, and appliances.
- Educate new and inexperienced nurse aides on proper patient care methods.
- Maintain and requisition supplies necessary for patient care.
- Provide ongoing in-service training as issues arise.
- Assist charge nurses during busy times.
- Handle complaints according to policy and procedure.
- Perform chart audits to ensure proper care documentation.
- Participate in skin integrity and fall teams, providing input and review.
- Perform on-call services as required to ensure safe staffing.
- Participate in the continuing quality improvement committee.
- Report to and coordinate with the DON and ADON, keeping them informed of facility occurrences.
- Perform other duties as delegated by the DON and ADON.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current RN/LPN license in the practicing state.
- At least two years of successful management experience.
- Extensive wound care experience.
- Ability to relate effectively to patients, families, and staff using good communication and confrontation management skills.
- (For Subacute Unit): Experience on a skilled unit and current knowledge of diagnosis-specific skills.
