Job summary

Sumter Health & Rehabilitation in York, AL is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to lead a nursing unit and mentor staff. You will oversee daily clinical operations and coordinate resident care to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires an Alabama RN license, CPR/BLS, and prior leadership experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting. You will work closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to maintain excellent resident care and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama RN license in good standing.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Previous nursing leadership or unit management experience preferred.
• Geriatric/long-term care or post-acute care experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of EMR.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff on an assigned unit.
• Coordinate daily clinical operations and resident care.
• Assess residents and monitor changes in clinical condition.
• Conduct routine resident rounds and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Review physician orders and ensure medications, treatments, and nursing interventions are implemented accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized resident care.
• Ensure timely and accurate nursing documentation.
• Participate in resident care planning and clinical meetings.
• Promote infection prevention, resident safety, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Ensure nursing practices comply with facility policies and state and federal regulations.
• Support survey readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Coach and develop RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.

• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Previous nursing leadership, supervisory, Charge Nurse, or Unit Manager experience preferred.
• Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, post-acute care, or geriatric nursing experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR).
• Ability to effectively lead and motivate a nursing team.
