Qualifications

  • Must be 21+ years old with a High School diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or Liberal Science, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience working with youth groups and related issues.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a highly interactive team setting.
  • Must provide a valid driver’s license and be insurable; ServSafe Food Handlers certification, CPR & First Aid within specified timelines; pre-employment drug test and TB test; mandated reporter training.
  • Proficiency with computers including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, coordination, and implementation of activities at the BGCA site.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers; recruit, train, and provide leadership and feedback.
  • Coordinate health and safety, risk management, and facility maintenance programs.
  • Develop and manage annual budget oversight in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • Foster community relations and market programs to members, parents, and community.
  • Ensure compliance with all club policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Bear River Band education and other departments on youth activities.
  • Model professional behavior and support youth in personal and cultural identity development.

Job DescriptionJOB TITLE:Unit Director of BGCAFLSA STATUS:ExemptDEPARTMENT:Boys & Girls Club of the Native ServicesBACKGROUND:PL 101-630 & Childcare BackgroundREPORTS TO:Tribal AdministratorUNIFORM REQUIRED:YesSALARY RANGE6APPROVED ON:TC-05/26/2026FUNDING SOURCE:BGCAFUNDING EXPIRATION:OngoingTribal Preference will be given in accordance with BRBRR Act Relating to Employment.POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer of BGCA is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, an implementation of activities at the site, supervising personnel, the care and upkeep of the facility, and community relations. This includes ensuring that all policies and objectives of the organization are fulfilled and that the Club maintains a positive image in the community.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Overall supervision and organization of programs based on needs and interests of youth, and consistent with the Boys & Girls Club philosophy.Conducts regular evaluations of programs, reviews plans with Program Staff, and solicits input from members.Recruits, trains, and supervises staff and regularly provides feedback and leadership to all staff.Assists in recruitment, training, and supervision for volunteers.Promotes and markets programs and events to members, parents, and community.Fulfills all administrative functions for the Club and provides timely and comprehensive information to the supervisor.Assists in preparation of annual budget and maintains oversight for Club budget.Assures responsible care and maintenance of facility, including periodic inspection and risk management plan for staff.Establishes programs that ensures the health and safety of members, including equipment maintenance instruction for staff and enforcing safety policies.Provides guidance to members and maintains respectful communication with all members, staff, parents, and community.Assures that Boys & Girls Club policies are followed, members are treated equally with regards to discipline and regular recognition is given.Responsible for coordinating (in conjunction with supervisor) and supervising cultural, recreational, and educational activities for the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria’s youth, including supervising the program participants in locations throughout the community.Must have strong understanding of issues facing Native youth and be able to support youth in navigating challenges and referring to other departments as necessary.Meet for individual and team supervision and effectively collaborate with Education and other departments as it relates to youth activities.Exemplify adult behavior as a role model and mentor to youth and work to enhance the youth’s sense of personal and cultural identity.Adhere to all confidentiality requirements and standards.Maintain professional behavior at all times.Follow mandated reporting requirements.Other duties may be assigned.AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will supervise staff and volunteers.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability that are desired.Preference for work experience with low-income, disadvantaged childrenQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Annual TB risk assessment and symptom review required for ongoing employment.Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.Must have valid JOB RELATED Certification or License: California Mandated Reporter Training Certification within three (3) months of hire.COMPUTER OPERATIONSProficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
