Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Patient Care Team for direct patient care and clinical leadership. The RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care while supporting sound clinical decisions and teamwork.

Responsibilities include policy enforcement, budgeting, staffing optimization, and ensuring regulatory compliance, with a focus on quality outcomes and cross‑department collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Nursing with active RN licensure.
• Current Louisiana RN license or compact state license.
• BLS-CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• Leadership experience preferred, including unit oversight.

Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) works with his/her team partner(s), using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate direct patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) works with his/her team partner(s) to provide quality patient care. As a member of the Patient Care Team, the RN provides hands‑on care to patients. Is responsible for making sound clinical decisions and to provide a comprehensive delivery of care to each individual patient; provide a wide variety of patient care activities and services. A PACU nurse is a critical care nurse. They ensure patients safely awaken from anesthesia after surgery or procedures. They treat side effects such as difficulty breathing, nausea, pain, or agitation. They observe and monitor vital signs, level of consciousness and behavior.

SUPERVISION:

Reports directly to Director of Nursing

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Assists in the development, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures which support the Hospital's mission, goals and objectives as requested by the Unit Director.
• Assists in the development of the annual departmental budget and operates within budgetary guidelines.
• Recommends and ensures appropriate staffing levels.
• Allocates resources according to priorities as requested by the Unit Director.
• Generates creative solutions and attention to detail.
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
• Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

• Routinely monitors staff performance and initiates appropriate corrective action/evaluation in a timely manner as directed.
• Provides ongoing monitoring of the quality of care, initiating audits in collaboration with the Unit Director.
• Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements and implements changes as appropriate in collaboration with Director of Quality Management and the Unit Director.
• Incorporates healthy workforce in daily practice

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of School of Nursing
• Current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or compact state license as Registered Nurse
• BLS-CPR certified
• ACLS and PALS certification required
• Three years of clinical experience preferred along with a leadership component such being a Charge Nurse.
