Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Unit Coordinator for the CTICU on the Main Campus in Columbus, OH. This part-time role supports the RN team and handles patient flow, communications, and unit operations.

Responsibilities include patient chart management, access to communication systems, admissions/discharges, and medication transport coordination. CPR certification is required, and a unit coordinator course is preferred. EOE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator or clerk course preferred.
• Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider) required.
• Basic computer and technology skills required.
• Excellent customer service, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Previous health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains patient charts and medical records.
• Operates communication systems including telephone, paging, and pneumatic tube.
• Assists with greeting, admission, registration, transfer, transport, and discharge of patients.
• Maintains unit and office supplies; orders and stocks as needed.
• Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of other Unit Coordinator staff.
• Coordinates transport of non-controlled medications from Pharmacy to designated practitioners or storage.
• Initiates Code Blue/Medical Assist/ACT in emergencies and communicates information to staff.
