Job summary

TriHealth is seeking an Unit Coordinator for the Clinical Decision Unit on a part-time night shift at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, OH. You will observe and interpret central cardiac monitors, assist in coordinating patient flow, and communicate with staff to ensure accurate information and timely responses.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to respond to emergencies, and proficiency with unit computer systems and monitor equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of a basic cardiology course, including 40 hours of clinical orientation.
  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree.

Unit Coordinator - Clinical Decision Unit

Job Type: Part Time Night Shift

About the Role: This position performs clerical duties and maintains the skills necessary to observe and interpret central cardiac monitors. The role requires interpersonal skills to communicate with respect and compassion to customers via various telecommunication devices and to assist in coordinating patient flow.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to unit/job (e.g., maintaining census, accurate scanning of documents) and knowledge of equipment operation on the unit.
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with internal customers (staff and other departments), relaying accurate and complete information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Appropriately respond to and prioritize work, including emergency situations such as Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, fire, and special alerts.
  • Perform computer down‑time procedures according to unit/TriHealth guidelines and demonstrate knowledge/use of emergency systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify areas for self‑growth and accountability, acknowledging the need for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain awareness of the location of all monitored patients during the shift, keep alarms active, immediately review alarms, and prioritize cardiac monitoring.
  • Accurately observe and interpret central cardiac monitors, maintain the cardiac monitor log with strips, intervals, and interpretations at designated times and prn, recognize emergency rhythms, notify appropriate personnel, inform the RN within an accepted timeframe of rhythm changes or arrhythmias, and document changes per unit standard.
