About the Unit
The 4200 Telemetry Unit is a specialized, stroke‑certified 38‑bed unit at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital. It provides comprehensive care for patients requiring pre/post cardiac catheterization, management of NSTEMI, heart failure, arrhythmias, and structural heart procedures such as TAVR, WATCHMAN, and MitraClip. The unit focuses on acute structural heart conditions, continuous cardiac monitoring, and evidence‑based, patient‑centered care to optimize recovery and enhance long‑term outcomes. Job Overview
This position performs clerical duties and maintains the skills necessary to observe and interpret central cardiac monitors. The role requires interpersonal skills to communicate with respect and compassion, coordinating patient flow and maintaining confidentiality in patient communications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proficient knowledge of unit‑specific computer applications (census, document scanning).
- Understand the function and operation of telemetry equipment.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers (staff, patients, families, other departments).
- Ensure accurate and complete information transfer, maintaining confidentiality and patient satisfaction.
- Prioritize work, respond to emergencies (Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, fire, specialty alert) and demonstrate knowledge of emergency systems.
- Perform computer downtime procedures following unit/TriHealth guidelines.
- Support organizational and unit changes, identify areas for self‑improvement, and acknowledge the need for growth and accountability.
- Accurately observe and interpret central cardiac monitors; maintain the cardiac monitor log with strips, intervals, and interpretations.
- Recognize emergency rhythms and notify RN and appropriate personnel within the accepted timeframe.
- Document all changes per unit standard; maintain alarms at all times and prioritize cardiac monitoring.
- Report unresolved problems to nursing personnel or clinical engineering, and maintain equipment, logs, and telemetry supplies per protocol.
Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED.
- Successful completion of a basic cardiology course, including 40 hours of clinical orientation.
- Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Schedule & Work Location
- FTE: Part‑Time – 24 Hours Weekly.
- Shift: Nights – 6:30pm–7:00am.
- Hospital: Bethesda North Hospital (Telemetry).
- On‑site inpatient role.
