Unit Communications Associate | PICU | Part Time Benefited - (2500014M)

Description

Coordinates communication activities for the nursing unit, modeling exemplary customer service standards for patients, families, and internal customers. Maintains patient care records and documentation as per Health Information Management and Unit Support Services. Performs clerical duties and receptionist responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of the Unit Communication Center.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required); Associate's Degree and/or some college (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience: 1 year in a healthcare environment (Required)

Skills/Knowledge: Proficiency in computer use, basic MS Word, excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, basic math skills, tactful interaction with staff, patients, and visitors, ability to respond to emergency situations, adherence to hospital policies, and maintaining a neat work environment.

Functional Accountabilities include:

  • Serving as a communication link between patients, families, and staff
  • Performing operational duties such as managing admissions, discharges, bed status, and maintaining environment of care
  • Assisting with patient care-related activities like answering call bells and assisting with orientation
  • Managing health information, including faxing orders and maintaining confidentiality
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory and functioning
  • Promoting safety and adhering to organizational and departmental policies

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Participating in organizational activities, team collaboration, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrating commitment to diversity, confidentiality, and professional integrity
  • Providing excellent customer service and fostering teamwork
  • Managing resources efficiently and seeking process improvements

Location: District of Columbia-Washington, at CN Hospital (Main Campus), 111 Michigan Avenue NW, Washington, 20010.

Position: Administrative Support / Customer Service, Regular Part-Time, Rotating Shift.

Salary Range: $43,160 - $85,259.2 annually.
