Job summary

Guthrie is seeking a Unit Clerk to support nurses, physicians and care teams by ensuring smooth information flow on nursing units. You will greet and assist patients, enter orders and charges, and help maintain efficient unit operations.

The role emphasizes strong communication, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit, with a pay range of $17.57–$25.32 per hour based on experience and shift.

Qualifications

• Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Experience with IDX, EPIC EHR, and Lab computer systems preferred.
• Windows-based computer skills and keyboarding required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent time management and customer service required.
• Able to organize and handle multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and answer phones with courtesy and proper etiquette.
• Enter labs and patient care testing into the computer accurately.
• File patient reports into the correct chart promptly.
• Enter daily patient charges within established time frames.
• Coordinate unit maintenance and supply orders.
• Assist nurses with unit clerical duties and patient communications.
• Transcribe physician orders accurately and manage chart records.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• May float to other units as needed.
