Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Unit Clerk on the 2 E Telemetry unit for night shifts. Under RN supervision, you will perform receptionist and secretarial duties, support nursing staff with patient care, and help maintain a safe, private, dignified environment for patients.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma, Nurse Aide training or 6 months of Nursing Assistant experience, BLS certification, keyboard skills, and medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program or 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a healthcare facility or as part of Accredited School of Nursing program.
• BLS Certification required.
• Knowledge of keyboard/computer.
• Medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions.
• Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relays pertinent information to the appropriate staff.
• Assists nursing staff with patient care by making beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate intake & output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, bedside glucose testing, and obtaining vital signs.

Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit assigned and meets the communication needs of the patient (family, departmental staff and medical staff). Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient’s rights.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program, or 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a Healthcare facility, or completion of fundamentals if enrolled in an Accredited School of Nursing program
• BLS Certification
• Knowledge of keyboard/computer
• Medical terminology knowledge

Preferred:

• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program
• Current State of Michigan CNA certification
• Previous work experience or training as a Unit Clerk and Nurse Aide
