Responsibilities

Unit Clerk functions as an assistant to the House Supervisor, ensuring that all units in the hospital operate at optimal function. The role involves working closely with House Supervisors to manage the clerical functions of all nursing units, visiting hours, and other duties assigned by the House Supervisors. The position requires working on all units/programs and understanding the different duties required for each.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Current CPR certification required
• Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, education, human services, business or related field preferred
• Completion of EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, or Security Training program, or a minimum of two (2) years experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills

• Recognized leadership capabilities
• Ability to take charge in code situations if needed
• Ability to make staffing changes when needed and be trained to function in a coordinator position if required
• Positive interaction with patients whose behavior may be difficult, uncooperative or aggressive
• Ability to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in highly technical situations
• Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions
• Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles
• Comprehension and execution of oral and written instructions and procedures
• Expertise with computers, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and basic knowledge of other computer systems
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members appropriately
• Capability to adapt to varying workloads and assignments on a constant basis
• Effective comprehensive reading skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Valid California Driver’s License to transport patients or staff, or drive hospital vehicles
