Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a unit clerk to perform front-desk and administrative duties in a multi-hospital system in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

The role involves handling orders, patient information, charging, and cross-unit support with a focus on accuracy and patient service.

Qualifications

• Completion of a unit clerk course or equivalent on the job training.
• CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Process orders in an accurate and timely manner.
• Answer the telephone and call lights appropriately and relay messages to patients and staff.
• Direct visitors to patient rooms and maintain medical records.
• Process patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
• Float to various units based on identified need.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner.
• Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
• Directs visitors to the room of the patient.
• Maintains medical records of current patients.
• Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
• Floats to various units based on identified need.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE

Completion of Unit clerk course or equivalent on the job training.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
