The Unit Clerical Associate (UCA) functions as an integral member of a care provider team on a patient care unit, fostering cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), Patient Care Associate (PCA), Patient Services Associate (PSA), and UCA, provides patient care and supportive services directed toward patient care outcomes, maximizing patients' involvement in their care plans, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. Patients and families experience the benefits of patient-focused care through the integrated skills of all team members. The UCA is responsible for coordinating and gathering all documentation related to the patient chart. They provide a variety of clerical support services under the direction of the PCC, a registered nurse, and in collaboration with other patient-focused care team members. Overall responsibilities include processing orders, verifying forms for accuracy and completeness, and disseminating information on the unit.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
