Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine's Johns Hopkins Hospital-Zayed 12 East unit is seeking a Unit Associate I – Neuroscience. This fast-paced role supports nurses and the unit coordinator, stocking Pyxis and supply carts, checking expirations, and keeping patient rooms stocked and clean.

You will work day shift in a 32-bed adult inpatient unit, handling various neuro patient care tasks and equipment, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a BLS card at the time of hire.
• Ability to identify clinical and environmental emergencies and follow procedures.
• Knowledge of hospital equipment, supplies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal communication with staff, patients and visitors.
• General office skills and modern computer use.

Responsibilities

Unit Associate I – Neuroscience

Limited hours - Day shift - 24 hours.

The Unit Associate is responsible for a wide variety of tasks that help to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of healthcare services to our patients. This is a fast-paced position where the associate will be required to work in collaboration with Nurses and the Unit Coordinator. Daily tasks include stocking items to Pyxis and supply carts, monitoring expiration dates on items, ensuring that patient rooms are properly stocked with supplies and linens, restocking supply rooms, maintaining a clean work environment and other duties as assigned.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital-Zayed 12 East is a 32-bed adult inpatient unit composed of 26 acute care neuro medical/surgical beds, and a six-bed epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU). On acute floor beds, you can expect to care for patients undergoing a variety of procedures and surgeries such as craniotomies, shunts, spinal fusions and aneurysm clippings / coilings. Additionally, you would care for a spectrum of patients with neurological disorders such as: Parkinsons, Myasthenia gravis, Multiple sclerosis, Guillain barre, ALS, cerebrovascular events and seizures.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a BLS card at the time of hire.
• Ability to identify clinical and environmental emergency/ urgent situations and to follow established procedures
• Knowledge of and familiarity with hospital equipment, supplied and procedures (highly preferred)
• Highly effective interpersonal communication skills to interact with inter-professional staff, patients, families, visitors and other hospital employees
• General office, communication equipment, cleaning equipment, knowledge of keyboarding and basic Windows applications.

Salary Range: Minimum 17.07/hour - Maximum 19.81/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
