Job summary

Adventist Health Castle in Kailua, HI seeks a clinical support professional to assist nurses and physicians, greet visitors, prepare medical records and respond to patient requests. You will perform routine clinical tasks under direct supervision, document care, assist with procedures and maintain supplies.

Requires a high school diploma or GED; an Associate’s/Technical degree is preferred. CPR/BLS certification is required; EMT, Phlebotomy or CNA/CMA/Paramedic certifications are preferred.

Job Summary:

Provides information to patients, families and physicians. Greets and directs visitors. Prepares and maintains medical records. Responds to patient requests for assistance. Works under direct supervision or within defined parameters.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions:

• Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety clerical duties including routing patient reports, as appropriate. Assists in scheduling patient procedures, assembling charts and maintaining patient flow. Maintains responsibility for accurately and responsively performing routine assigned clinical tasks of limited complexity.
• Documents patient care performed including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and provides assessment data to Registered Nurse (RN). Performs routine assigned tasks and reports patients’ status and concerns to the RN. Requires minimal independent judgment.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment. Makes decisions regarding own work, often limited and confined to routine matters.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition, and changes to condition, to the RN and/or Physician/Provider.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
