Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Unit Assistant to provide essential patient and staff support. You will help with basic patient care under a Staff Nurse, manage registrations and scheduling, and process orders and charges to keep financial records accurate.

You should be compassionate, detail-oriented, and proactive in maintaining unit efficiency and strong team collaboration within a dynamic healthcare setting.

Formación

• One year of experience as Unit Assistant/Clerk or equivalent in a healthcare setting.
• Experience assisting in direct patient care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
• Proficient with health information systems and documenting.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Unit Assistant, you will provide essential support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will manage patient registrations and scheduling, process orders and requisitions, and meticulously track charges to maintain accurate financial records.

To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.

• Competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures. Includes proficiency in Health Information Systems, supply orders, departmental data/reports.


• Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.


• Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills.


• Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette and manages multiple phone and intercom lines. Uses medical terminology accurately. Includes reporting abnormals or change in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.


• Accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development.


• Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care. Includes all National Patient Safety Goals.


• Job Requirements*Required


• One (1) year experience as Unit Assistant/Clerk or equivalent in a healthcare setting.


• Previous experience assisting in direct patient care.


• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Associaton.
