Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a compassionate Unit Aide to provide essential non-clinical support to patients and staff under the direction of a Staff Nurse. You will assist with patient comfort, transport, and basic care tasks while helping maintain a clean, organized environment.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma/GED, BLS certification, and Unit Aide experience; the hospital may train non-experienced applicants. Competitive hourly pay range is listed below.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous Unit Aide experience; hospital may train non-experienced candidates.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient ADL routines and measure intake/output; obtain vital signs.
• Complete patient documentation per hospital policy.
• Support unit operations by transporting patients and relaying messages to nurses.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and restock supplies.
• Participate in peer review and staff development activities; seek resolution of conflicts.
• Communicate effectively with other healthcare team members.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.

To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.

• Performs basic patient care under the direction of the RN which includes assisting with patient ADL routine, measurement of intake and output and obtaining vital signs
• Completes appropriate documentation which includes patient records ensuring it is completed according to hospital policy
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth by taking advantage of the available opportunities
• Participates in peer review and staff development, which includes unit and quality process improvement activities
• Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict
• Communicates as appropriate with other members of the healthcare team

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma/GED
• Previous Unit Aide experience. If operationally able, Hospital will consider training a non-experienced candidate
• Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider

Pay Range

$30.88 - $34.70 /hour
