Job summary

Fernwood Property Management in Chicago, IL is seeking a Helper A to support maintenance and resident services across the community. You will diagnose and repair a range of systems, keep units ready for occupancy, and help on-call emergencies with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year of property maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to identify and use cleaning and chemical supplies.
• Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs for long periods.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for estimates.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and perform minor maintenance/repair daily.
• Electrical and plumbing repair including rodding sewer lines.
• Appliance repair (microwave, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator).
• Finish carpentry and hardware installation.
• Ensure vacant units are rent-ready on time.
• Respond to on-call emergencies; weekends/overtime as needed.
• Maintain safety and company policies.
