Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Union Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair building HVAC and related systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, oversee daily rounds, and lead shift personnel while ensuring safety and compliance with union guidelines.

Qualifications include NYFD Q-01/Q-99 certification and multiple certificates of fitness, 4–5 years of related experience, and strong communication skills. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Certificate of Qualification (Q-01/Q-99) for Refrigeration System Operating Engineer issued by the New York City Fire Department.
• At least five of the following NYC Fire Department certificates: A35, F60, G60, S12, S13, S14, S95, F01, P98, P99.
• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience.
• Meet the physical requirements (stooping, standing, lifting 50 lbs).
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate building mechanical and HVAC equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems.
• Oversee general labor tasks (receiving deliveries, loading/unloading).
• Keep mechanical/HVAC spaces clean and equipment logged.
• Conduct daily rounds and log conditions in mechanical areas.
• Coach and lead team members; ensure policy adherence.
• Respond to emergencies; summon assistance as needed.
• Explain complex information clearly.
