Job summary

Maxim Crane Operations is seeking an experienced crane operator to safely operate telescoping, lattice, and hydraulic cranes in diverse job sites.

The role requires 2+ years of crane experience, NCCCO or North American Crane Bureau certification, and a valid Class A CDL with a DOT medical card. Strong safety focus and ability to read specs are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification by NCCCO or North American Crane Bureau Group is required.
  • 2+ years of crane operating experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL and DOT medical card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates telescoping, lattice and hydraulic cranes to move loads safely.
  • Calculates load capacities and ensures loads stay within crane limits.
  • Inspects surroundings for obstructions and ensures safe setup conditions.
  • Maintains operation logs and reports expenses as required.
  • Complies with safety laws, regulations, and company policies.

Job description

Purpose:

The Crane Operator will safely operate mobile cranes to transfer heavy objects from one location to another.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates specialized machinery such as telescope booms, lattice booms, and hydraulic cranes
  • Calculates load capacity, determining weight of items to be moved in relation to the maximum capacity of crane based on manufacturers specifications
  • Inspects clearances, overhead lines, and other possible obstructions to ensure there are no accidents or damage to employees, buildings, loads, or equipment
  • Inspects and assesses ground conditions to ensure that the crane can be set up safely
  • Inspects cranes for defects and wear prior to operation; performs necessary repairs or maintenance
  • Complies with all applicable federal, state, and company safety laws, guidelines, and best practices
  • Maintains logs and records of operation activities
  • Maintains accurate reporting of all expenses and receipts associated with the daily use of company credit cards and fuel cards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
Requirements:
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certification by the North American Crane Bureau Group or the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators required
Experience:
  • 2+ years’ of previous crane operating experience
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge
  • Moderate verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records
  • Moderate oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of safety procedures and practices
  • Pass drug and background check
  • Valid NCCCO
  • Class A CDL
  • DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends most of their time in external conditions, which may include temperature variance, elevated noise levels, dust, and fumes. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
