Job summary

Achievement Behavior Servies seeks a part-time Behavior Technician to work 1:1 with children in their home environments, under BCBA supervision. You will implement ABA approaches, collect data, and progress toward individualized goals.

You'll collaborate with BCBA leaders, pursue credentials like RBT, and balance after-school hours with family needs. This role emphasizes compassionate, student-centered support and clear communication.

Qualifications

  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology.
  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills required.
  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations.
  • Proven experience with pre-school and elementary-aged children.
  • Experience with patients suffering from Autism and development issues.
  • NY State requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in rapport-building and creative problem solving to help a student communicate needs and feelings.
  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
  • Provide 1:1, in-home ABA services including discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, and reinforcements.
  • Maintain thorough session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
  • Work with BCBA supervision and accept feedback from supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

  • Personalized Training and Supervision from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.



Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:


  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.

  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.

  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers



The Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals

  • Structured and creative play skills
