Job summary

Achievement Behavior Services (ABS) is seeking a part-time Behavior Technician to work one-on-one with children in their home or community settings. You will be supported by a BCBA and move through individualized Behavior Intervention Plans to improve communication, focus, and adaptive behaviors.

You will receive supervision from a BCBA, opportunities to pursue RBT credentials, and a flexible after-school schedule with potential weekend hours based on family needs.

Qualifications

  • Active RBT certificate preferred.
  • Experience with preschool and elementary children.
  • Strong communication with families/caregivers and BCBA supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport and use creative strategies to help the student communicate.
  • Measure, document, and track progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
  • Provide 1:1 in-home ABA services using DTT, prompting, modeling and reinforcement.
  • Maintain thorough session documentation and data for billing.
  • Collaborate with BCBA supervisor and take feedback.
  • Communicate respectfully with clients, caregivers, supervisors and coworkers.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

    In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:
  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.

  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.

  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:
  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology

  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required

  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations

  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals

  • Structured and creative play skills
