Job description

Western Specialty Contractors is expanding our Roofing team in Peoria, IL! Our roofers averaged 1795 hours of roofing work last year and are looking forward to another busy year. For this role, we are looking for a hands-on leader with 10+ years of experience in commercial, low-slope roofing. As a Roofing Lead Foreman, you will:

1. Identify existing and predictable hazards to work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees.
2. Supervise workers assigned to the area of responsibility to ensure that work complies with specifications and meets quality standards.
3. Communicate effectively to supervise employees and maintain customer relations.
4. Identify and investigate leaks, and lead and carry out patching and repair projects in all types of commercial roofs.
5. Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.
6. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials during installation.
7. Oversee and maintain company safety requirements and ensure that they are known and understood by all workers.
8. Other tasks as required based on business need.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction.
2. The ability to read drawings is necessary.
3. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see (naturally or with correction).
4. The ability to work at heights, at extreme temperatures, and to wear company safety equipment is essential.
5. Experience with crew leadership and professional communication with customers.
6. Must communicate effectively to supervise employees and maintain customer relations.
7. Proficient with leak investigations/roofing patch and repairs in all types of commercial roofs, to include: TPO, PVC, Asphalt BUR/Gravel, EPDM, Cold Process, Fluid Applied, etc.
8. Must be proficient with technology, including using a tablet such as an iPad.
9. Must have reliable transportation and pass a drug screening.
10. Must have a valid driver's license.

Compensation:

Union wage rate based on position. $38.70-$40.50 per crew size. This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement and benefits are provided through the union.
