Job summary

Job Title

Building Engineer

Job Description Summary

This position supports the Assistant and/or Chief Engineer and Sr. Facilities Manager in the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment on behalf of the client. The Engineer will perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal operation and safety. Responsibilities include maintaining records of operations, performing interior and exterior property inspections, and adhering to safety standards and company policies.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensure preventive maintenance and repair work orders are completed promptly for all building systems.
  2. Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building interior/exterior systems.
  3. Perform major repairs on HVAC and plumbing systems as needed.
  4. Conduct electrical repairs and maintenance, including conduit work and panel servicing.
  5. Inspect facilities and report on conditions affecting client operations.
  6. Operate and maintain boilers, pumps, valves, refrigerant systems, and water treatment equipment.
  7. Manage building automation systems for HVAC and other systems.
  8. Perform general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, cleaning, and equipment replacement.
  9. Maintain inventory and ensure compliance with safety and building codes.
  10. Respond to emergencies and support after-hours and weekend work as needed.
  11. Ensure company vehicle maintenance and proper documentation.
  12. Perform maintenance in controlled environmental vaults with special safety protocols.
  13. Complete additional operational tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Physical activity including lifting, climbing, and standing for prolonged periods. Ability to work in various environments, including loud noise, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials. Must wear PPE as required. Travel between sites may be necessary.

Scheduling and Other Duties

Work hours typically align with business hours but may include overtime, shift work, and emergency response. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
