Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking an on-site Security Officer to ensure the safety of district premises and respond to security calls in accordance with district procedures. The role requires at least two years of security experience and eligibility or certification for IPMBA bicycle operations.

Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication abilities, is essential for reading and following instructions, coordinating with staff, and maintaining a secure campus

SUMMARY

Ensures that district premises are safe and secure. Responds to all incoming security calls according to established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Two years of law enforcement or security experience.
• Must be willing and able to carry and use all security weapons, to include a firearm.
• Must be international police mountain bike association (IPMBA) certified or able to become TUSD bicycle certified.
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• FBI fingerprint background check.
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
• Must qualify with firearm according to Arizona Police Officer Standard and Training guidelines upon hire.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Must hold a current Arizona Driver’s license and have accrued no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel
• Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
• Physical Examination to be done by one of the clinics with which the District contracts (Category B) and sign a Medical History form.
• Must submit to a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
• Post-offer/pre-employment lift test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work occasional overtime and/or extended duty hours due to the need to cover large scale security, emergency or other unforeseen events.

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day

Work Calendar: 12 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
