Job summary

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts® is seeking a Laundry Attendant to manage linens, uniforms, and cleaning in a fast-paced hotel environment. You will ensure timely stocking of laundry needs and maintain cleanliness in guest rooms and public areas, including turndown service on a nightly basis.

The role requires basic reading, writing, and math skills, with preference for housekeeping experience and English ability. Lifting, standing, and exposure to high-heat areas are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Receive soiled linens and sort by kind, color and soil.
  • Operate washers and dryers following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Fold clean linens and store appropriately.
  • Complete nightly turndown service.
  • Clean guest rooms and maintain public areas.
  • Report repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Maintain supplies and minimize waste in the laundry.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive soiled linens by bag, or cart from the floors. Sort all articles by kind, color and degree of soil. Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items.
  • Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines. Ensure necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles.
  • Fold clean linens and store as appropriate.
  • Report to supervisor needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor and control supplies, and minimize waste within laundry facility.
  • Sort and record discarded linen into categories. Report damages or loss of linen to supervisor.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department
  • Receive, check and deliver guest laundry in to guest rooms. Check bills and submit to supervisor for posting. Keep and organize all receipts.
  • Report, turn in, and/or log any lost and found items according to established procedures
  • Complete turndown service on a nightly basis
  • Clean guest rooms as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness in the hotel’s public areas, including, but not limited to, lobby/reception areas, hotel exterior, banquet floors, business center, public and employee washrooms, elevators, pool area and fitness center.
  • Receive and respond to all guest calls and deliver guest items
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualification And Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Some housekeeping experience and ability to speak English preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds and pushing and or pulling approximately 100 pounds
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the work area
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
  • Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment

Other:

  • Communication skills are utilized a when interacting other employees and supervisor.
  • Reading and writing abilities and basic math skills are utilized when determining amounts of chemicals to treat laundry and stains and logging appropriate poundage.
  • Must be able to work late evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
