Job summary

The successful candidate will work under the Athletic Director and Principal, schedule practices and games, monitor academics, ensure safety, and maintain equipment and facilities. Compliance with RI coaching requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Updated National and State BCI Check required.
• Current & Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course is required.
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Course (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS Protecting Students From Abuse (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS RI State Component Course (New Coaches to the District).
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS Implicit Bias Course (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (Must be Taken Annually).
• NFHS Title IX
• NFHS Sportsmanship

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams, in skills for a successful experience.
• Supervises individual team members and teams at all times.
• Knows and implements current rules and policies, including RIIL regulations.
• Monitors student athletes' academic performance and emphasizes high academics.
• Acts as role model and maintains composure under stress.
• Schedules practices and games with the athletic director and other coaches.
• Informs athletic director about facility, equipment and uniforms.
• Communicates with the athletic director about team issues and activities.
• Notifies athletic director of safety concerns.
• Delegates coaching responsibilities to assistants and volunteers.
• Performs other duties as defined by athletic director and principal.
