Job summary

Great American Insurance Group seeks an Underwriting Trainee in Shaker Heights, OH. This on-site role supports underwriting submissions, quotes, and risk assessment while learning guidelines and pricing methods.

On-site four days per week with one day remote, you will collaborate with agents and internal partners, develop underwriting expertise, and participate in training initiatives to drive profitable growth and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and analyze insurance submissions to identify exposures and risk.
• Prepare quotes, renewals, endorsements, and underwriting transactions.
• Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal partners to gather information.
• Develop expertise in underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, pricing, and risk selection.
• Utilize data and underwriting tools to support decision-making and portfolio management.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with underwriting, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Support profitable growth through strong customer relationships and responsive service.
• Participate in training, continuous improvement initiatives, and special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
