American International Group (AIG) is seeking an Underwriting Team Lead in Illinois to guide property and E&S underwriting. You will lead a team, oversee risk selection, and ensure a balanced portfolio across primary and excess placements from the Chicago area.

You will leverage CAT modeling knowledge, ISO form usage, and relationships with wholesale brokers to drive strategy and growth while developing talents within the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Commercial E&S underwriting experience.
  • Established relationships within the territory's wholesale brokerage community.
  • Prior team leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience with success developing underwriters.
  • Strong knowledge of CAT modeling (OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, TCPs) and ISO form usage.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite property risks across the E&S spectrum and provide leadership to the team.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor underwriters within the zone.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to shape strategy and build a high-performing culture.
  • Review and negotiate manuscript form wordings and coverages.

For positions based in Illinois the base salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
