Markel in Virginia is hiring an Associate Underwriter to support endorsement requests and renewal reviews. You’ll process changes, evaluate compliance, and help with account maintenance, while coordinating with agents and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, risk management, finance, or related field preferred, but not required.
• Prior experience in insurance, underwriting support, policy processing or customer service preferred.
• Basic understanding of property and casualty insurance concepts, policies and endorsements.
• Ability to review information for accuracy and follow guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication for multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and policy systems.

Responsabilités

• Review and process endorsement requests, including policy changes and renewals.
• Evaluate requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with guidelines.
• Review renewal accounts and pricing changes.
• Identify accounts needing additional underwriting review or updates.
• Apply underwriting guidelines and procedures to endorsements and renewals.
• Communicate with agents and internal partners to request information.
• Maintain accurate underwriting files with decisions and rationale.
• Assist underwriters with account maintenance and renewal prep.
• Monitor queues to meet service standards and deadlines.
• Escalate complex risks to appropriate underwriter or manager.
• Identify process gaps and opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.
• Drive operational efficiency through use of AI.
