Job summary

The Cigna Group in Bloomfield, CT is offering an underwriting training program designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals. You’ll receive immersive training, mentorship, and real responsibility to evaluate risk and influence strategy.

During the structured curriculum you’ll learn risk evaluation, pricing fundamentals, portfolio management, and leadership communication, with an optional rotation across products and markets. The role is hybrid with three onsite days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Preferred majors: Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Economics, Finance, Management, Mathematics, or Healthcare.
• Demonstrated quantitative capability and comfort with math and numbers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess risk characteristics and recommend pricing and terms.
• Apply quantitative analysis and underwriting judgment to evaluate profitability.
• After training, help manage a book of business by monitoring performance and trends.
• Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to design customer solutions.
• Negotiate with clients and brokers with clear rationale and follow-through.
• Share insights to improve underwriting consistency and outcomes.
