Job summary

Burns & Wilcox is seeking a motivated undergraduate for a 12-week summer internship on-site in an office setting. The Underwriting Intern will be immersed in one of our specialty underwriting teams, including commercial, personal or professional lines.

This paid program focuses on developing business acumen, communication and leadership skills through hands-on experience, with opportunities to network with executive leadership and fellow interns across departments.

Qualifications

• 12-week summer internship program to develop business acumen, communication and leadership.
• Paid internship offering learning from executive leadership and interns in multiple departments.
• Enrolled undergraduate pursuing relevant degrees; strong preference for related fields.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in agent marketing calls and attend client meetings.
• Engage in insurance policy renewals.
• Update new business and renewals in Microsoft Excel.
• Determine which program or market best meets client needs.
• Communicate loss notices and policy changes.
• Collaborate with senior leaders on special projects.
• Enrolled as undergraduate in Risk Management and Insurance (strongly preferred).
• Expected graduation December 2027 or May 2028.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
