Job summary

Burns & Wilcox is offering a 12-week paid underwriting internship on-site in our office in Ruston, LA. The program develops business acumen, communication, and leadership through hands-on experience across commercial, personal, or professional lines teams.

You'll participate in client meetings, policy renewals, and cross-functional projects while supporting senior leaders, with a focus on real-world underwriting tasks and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as an undergraduate at an accredited university, actively pursuing a degree in Risk Management and Insurance (strongly preferred), Business, Finance, or another relevant field
• Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028
• Previous internship experience is preferred
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

• Participate in agent marketing calls and attend client meetings
• Engage in insurance policy renewals
• Update new business and renewals in Microsoft Excel
• Determine which program or market best meets the needs of agency clients
• Communicating loss notices and policy changes
• Work alongside senior leaders on special projects
