Job summary

DUAL North America is seeking an Underwriting Intern to gain hands-on experience within our underwriting teams in Chicago, IL. You will work alongside seasoned underwriters to learn risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategies on real examples.

The internship runs during the summer, with opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects and build practical skills for your future career in insurance.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Majoring in risk management, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with underwriters to review insurance submissions and understand risk fit.
  • Learn fundamentals of risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy.
  • Help organize underwriting information, update records, and keep details accurate.
  • Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights for the team.
  • Contribute to team projects and day-to-day coordination while gaining professional experience.

Role responsibilities

Partner with underwriters to review insurance submissions and understand what makes a risk a good fit. Learn the fundamentals of risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy through real examples and team discussions. Help organize underwriting information, update records, and keep key details accurate and easy to access. Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights, then summarize findings for the team. Contribute to team projects, meetings, and day-to-day coordination while building confidence in a professional business environment.

Key requsirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field (graduating between December 2027 and May 2028).
  • Majoring in risk management, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus
