Job summary

DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking an Underwriting Intern for a summer internship in Chicago, IL. You will work with experienced underwriters, support submissions, and gain hands-on exposure to risk assessment and underwriting processes.

You'll collaborate with teams across underwriting, marketing, and broader DUAl business. The role is in-office with 0–10% travel, and compensation is $22.00 per hour. Applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor’s program and graduating between 2027 and 2028.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Majoring in risk management, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with underwriters to review submissions and assess risk.
  • Learn risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy through real examples.
  • Organize underwriting information, update records, and maintain access to details.
  • Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights; summarize findings.
  • Contribute to team projects and day-to-day coordination.

Role responsibilities
  • Partner with underwriters to review insurance submissions and understand what makes a risk a good fit.
  • Learn the fundamentals of risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy through real examples and team discussions.
  • Help organize underwriting information, update records, and keep key details accurate and easy to access.
  • Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights, then summarize findings for the team.
  • Contribute to team projects, meetings, and day-to-day coordination while building confidence in a professional business environment.
Key requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field (graduating between December 2027 and May 2028)
  • Majoring in risk management, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus.
