Job summary

NICO National Indemnity Company, part of the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance family, offers an underwriting internship in Omaha, NE. Interns assist with evaluating risk, pricing communication to agents, and identifying issues for the lead underwriter.

Hours: Between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 15-30 hours per week during the school year depending on the applicant's schedule 30-40 hours per week in the summer

Duties in the Underwriting Department include:

• Evaluating risk acceptability based on driver quality, loss history, and overall business operations

During this internship, the student will gain:

• Knowledge of fundamental concepts of insurance (including coverages & pricing)
• An understanding of basic commercial auto insurance underwriting
