Position Summary

The Underwriter will be part of a dedicated team in the Southeast Region, focusing on excess casualty placements. The role involves managing the entire lifecycle of prospect accounts, including new and renewal business, with opportunities to learn and grow within the commercial insurance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare information needed to market new and renewal business.
  • Set up new business accounts, including gathering data from submissions, exposure, loss history, and using Co-pilot.
  • Establish renewal accounts by providing comparison data, loss runs, and new information.
  • Request missing submission information from brokers.
  • Follow up on missing information after accounts are bound.
  • Assist with transaction requests, such as confirming invoicing amounts.
  • Handle endorsement requests to ensure accuracy and processing.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Manage multiple accounts daily, demonstrating strong multitasking skills.
  • Provide feedback to the director regarding account status and missing information.
  • Collaborate with brokers in the SE region to promote growth and strengthen relationships.

Qualifications

  • Industry and/or Casualty experience preferred; 3 or more years in excess casualty.
  • RMI Degree or background in finance/business preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Motivation to learn and ask questions.
  • Willingness to take on challenges and new roles.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively throughout the day.
  • Strong organizational skills and personal responsibility.
  • Remote work with limited office space.
