USLI in Mission Viejo, CA is seeking an experienced underwriter to evaluate submissions, underwrite with delegated authority, and foster customer relationships. You’ll collaborate across underwriting, business development, claims and IT to deliver innovative insurance solutions.

We value mentorship for new underwriters and ongoing professional development, with a focus on growth, learning, and delivering exceptional service to clients. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $140,000 with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of underwriting experience in Commercial Property and Casualty, Personal, or M and P Liab lines.
• Or 5+ years in other insurance roles (sales, claims, agent/broker) or legal services.
• Insurance-related coursework (CPCU, RPLU) is a plus.
• Willingness to travel as needed to maintain customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite: Assess and manage submissions with precision, adhering to guidelines and delegated authority.
• Customer engagement: Address quotes, re-quotes, and endorsements with a customer-first mindset.
• Relationship building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Collaborative approach: Partner with teams across Underwriting, Business Development, Claims, IT, and more.
• Innovative contribution: Research market trends and support product development.
• Mentorship: Guide and support new underwriters.
• Continuous Learning: Pursue ongoing professional development and required underwriting training within 24 months.
