BTIS is currently seeking a skilled Commercial Insurance Underwriter with MGA, MGU, or INSURANCE experience to join our Workers Compensation Insurance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assessing and underwriting commercial insurance applications, ensuring the profitability and sustainability of our business. The Commercial Insurance Underwriter is responsible for evaluating, selecting, accepting, rejecting, pricing, and servicing commercial insurance policies within accepted company procedures and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Using knowledge and independent judgment to determine risk eligibility according to program guidelines. Responding to agent inquiries via telephone, email, chat, mail, and fax.
  • Reviewing insurance applications and documentation to assess risk acceptability in line with company standards.
  • Recommending appropriate premiums and coverage after analyzing applicant documentation, business factors, and market conditions.
  • Preparing written communications for underwriting decisions, proposals, referrals, rate appeals, and declinations.
  • Analyzing commercial line accounts.
  • Evaluating pricing and coverage to ensure accurate premiums.
  • Managing a book of business to meet profitability goals.
  • Building productive and positive relationships.
  • Assisting with policy binding, endorsements, renewals, and new business underwriting.

Minimum Job Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience (Required)
  • 3+ years of underwriting experience
  • Strong technical underwriting and analytical skills, with knowledge of Workers Compensation products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ability to learn new software
  • Must have MGA, MGU, or insurance experience
  • Attention to detail, dependability, and follow-through
  • Ability to analyze data and recommend outcomes
  • Maturity to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent work ethic and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability
  • Professional appearance and positive company representation
  • Willingness to work non-traditional shifts as needed
  • Ability to handle complex issues, escalating only when necessary

Pay Range:

$64,480 to $75,000, depending on location, experience, skills, and industry knowledge.
