UNDERWRITER - AVIATION INSURANCE – NEW YORK, NY

Join U.S. Aviation Underwriters, Inc. as an Underwriter - Aviation Insurance in our New York City branch. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a pilot’s heart to review aviation insurance proposals, evaluate risks, negotiate coverage, and perform administrative duties.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze documents like applications and inspection reports to assess risk factors related to aircraft, pilots, airports, financials, and aircraft condition.
  2. Review company records to determine insurance coverage and evaluate potential losses.
  3. Communicate with clients, brokers, and insurance companies to gather information, quote rates, and explain underwriting policies.
  4. Design tailored insurance programs based on risk assessments.
  5. Decline high-risk applications based on company criteria.
  6. Prepare underwriting reports using software tools.
  7. Generate quotes, binders, invoices, and insurance policies.
  8. Maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
  9. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in aviation or business.
  • Private pilot license with instrument rating and 300+ flight hours preferred.
  • 1-3 years of aviation insurance experience preferred.
  • Strong underwriting, customer service, and industry knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize.
  • Ability to work in-office, with some travel required.
  • Attainment of insurance license and ongoing education necessary.
Additional Information:

Salary range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year. Benefits include 401(k), medical, vision, disability insurance, paid leave, tuition assistance, and more.
