Overview: Leveraged Finance Underwriting (“LFU”) is seeking an Associate/Junior Underwriter to join the team. The Associate will work with the full team to lead and enhance Citi’s Leveraged Lending credit management process through collaboration with Banking, Capital Markets, and Risk Management.

This role involves participating in Citi’s credit approval and origination process for leveraged finance transactions, assisting clients in raising funds, and overseeing credit monitoring for Citi’s Lending Finance Portfolio.

The position offers an opportunity to develop credit and origination skills, understand complex financial issues, and deliver innovative client solutions while managing credit exposure within Citi’s global portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Support Senior Underwriters and oversee Analysts in core LFU functions: transaction origination, credit approval, credit monitoring, portfolio management, and strategic projects.
• Collaborate with product partners in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, and Risk, ensuring deal structures are documented and approved per standards.
• Assess clients' business, financial health, and industry trends; identify issues proactively.
• Analyze valuation models and forecast financial performance; communicate assumptions clearly.
• Ensure quality control in transaction materials and analysis for credit decisions.
• Review business rationale and market risks; prepare reports for senior management.
• Research industry trends and communicate insights effectively to risk teams and bankers.
• Coordinate with Analysts and Mumbai team for financial reviews.
• Assist deal teams in risk assessment and transaction execution.
• Mentor and train Analysts in credit analysis.
• Monitor news/events related to leveraged clients and update senior staff regularly.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years in credit analysis, origination, or corporate banking.
• Strong teamwork, work ethic, and communication skills.
• Experience in financial modeling and data analysis.
• Leadership experience in mentoring Analysts.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Additional Details:

Full-time position based in New York, NY, with a salary range of $109,120 - $163,680. Citi offers comprehensive benefits and incentive programs. Anticipated posting close date: May 09, 2025.
