Job summary

FCE Benefits Administrators is seeking an Underwriter in San Antonio, TX to ensure accurate financial analysis, pricing, and compliance for a range of health and welfare programs. The role supports both fully insured and self-funded plans and collaborates with third-party vendors to service client requests for alternate benefit arrangements.

Qualifications

• A minimum of three (3) years of underwriting, actuarial, accounting, budgeting, or health insurance risk experience is required.
• Understanding of health and welfare benefits, including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, limited medical, group life, accident, and critical illness.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel use, including modeling and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Proposal Development: Create complex new business and renewal proposals, incorporating a variety of benefits within an anticipated health and welfare budget.
• Compliance & Strategy: Ensure compliance with the industry’s best practices, client requirements, and applicable laws or regulations including but not limited to the Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis Bacon Act (DBA), and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
• Quality Assurance & Analysis: Audit work of other team members for accuracy and perform detailed claims, risk, and financial trend analyses.
• Efficiency Optimization: Implement procedural changes to enhance department efficiency.
