RTX (Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon) seeks an Undersea Production Chief Engineer to lead the Office of the Chief Engineer on programs such as Mk 54, ALFS, AMNS, LWLS, NTSP, and Outpost Arrays. You will own the technical strategy, drive reviews, and ensure compliance with contract requirements across a large, cross-functional team.

The role requires a BS in STEM and 10+ years of relevant experience, plus the ability to travel and engage with senior government and customer leadership. U.S.

Job description

What You Will Do

Function as Undersea Production Chief Engineer (CE) in the Office of the Chief Engineer interacting with the Portfolio Chief Engineer, Program Manager and the cross-functional Leadership Team, addressing the following production programs: Mk 54 Mod 0/1 Lightweight Torpedo AN/AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) AN/ALQ-235 Airborne Mine Neutralization System (AMNS) Submarine Legacy Weapon Launcher Systems (LWLS) Turkey New Type Submarine Project (NTSP) Outpost Arrays Act as the primary Program Technical Executive, responsible for communicating and deploying the program technical strategy that balances Raytheon business priorities and satisfies Customer contract requirements. Responsible for program technical, regulatory, cost and schedule, product performance, manufacturability and affordability, and compliance objectives. Ensuring the technical integrity of program work products including the TDP. Owns the tailoring and implementation of Raytheon processes (eg; RLPM) into the program based on the program execution strategy and contract requirements. Responsible to chair all program engineering review boards, including but not limited to risk reviews, failure reviews, readiness reviews, design reviews, safety reviews, and Configuration Control Boards (CCB). Accountable to ensure product performance meets contract requirements. Ensures the program "definition of compliant" is clearly understood by the customer and program team. Act as the primary Program technical contact with the customer, Raytheon Program Leadership, and Engineering Leadership. Accountable to ensure critical technical staffing needs are met and coordinated with engineering functional managers, Chief Technologists and Office of the Chief Engineer to ensure effective program performance. Ensuring that all system and component failures are appropriately identified and investigated to determine root cause, that affected hardware is dispositioned accordingly, and that effective corrective actions are implemented. Responsible to ensure all program execution risks and opportunities (e.g.; learning points, firsts, uncontrolled conditions) are identified and a robust management and handling plan is in place. Accountable to support program EACs to ensure EAC reflects an executable program plan with a managed risk and opportunity plan. Is responsible to maintain Team of X (engineering, contracts, operations, supply chain, qualify, finance, other.) alignment to encourage cross functional alignment and collaboration on program execution priorities.

Qualifications

Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. Experience leading a large, multi-disciplined technical team with the ability to develop, empower, motivate, and monitor the team. Experience with production contracts and general understanding of the business acumen of the program office, finance, contracts, operations, supply chain and quality. Experience interfacing with senior internal leadership and external customers representing Engineering and the Office of the Chief Engineer. Experience interacting with and collaborating with and representing Raytheon to senior Government and customer leadership and technical experts. Experience balancing technical, cost, and schedule priorities on programmatically impactful tasks/issues and pursuits. Willingness to travel to other Raytheon and customer locations across the country and internationally. Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer Master’s or other advanced STEM degree. Prior experience as a Raytheon Chief Engineer. Experience as a People Leader (e.g., IPT Lead, Section Leader or Department Leader.) Experience in the development, production, maintenance and sustainment of military products and services. Experience executing Naval programs and with Navy personnel. Existing familiarity with Undersea Systems programs and products. Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills. Background in electrical engineering and previous support in production support related test and troubleshooting. Strong judgement skills and ability to operate independently.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
