National Underground Group is recruiting a Power/Fiber Technician for Winchester, VA. The role involves using mechanical/technical equipment to locate underground utilities and provide locate services along the I-64 corridor.

This full-time position requires strong physical stamina, the ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and effective communication with site managers and crews. Training leads to locator certification, and on-call duties may require after-hours work.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn through instructor-led training to receive locator certification
• Ability to drive local roads and operate outdoors
• On-call work flexibility outside normal hours
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Access to restricted and/or controlled areas (e.g. federal installations)
• Must lift at least 50 pounds and walk varied terrain in all weather

Responsibilities

• Use mechanical/technical equipment to locate underground facilities such as electrical power lines and fiber lines
• Provide locate services as a single contractor along the I-64 corridor
• Communicate with client managers and excavation crews to discuss locate issues
• Interpret job order tickets and respond to ensure customer satisfaction
• Read maps and blueprints to accurately locate utilities
• Determine efficient routes to each locate in urban and rural areas
• Remove and replace manhole lids
