Job summary

USIC is seeking field locators to locate underground utilities across various sites. Positions are full-time daytime roles with a 48-hour turnaround on locates and expected overtime, weekend, and on-call work as needed. Starting hourly rates range from $21.00 to $33.00 depending on experience, with comprehensive benefits and training.

No prior locating experience is required, but experienced locators are encouraged to apply. A company vehicle, fuel card, and equipment are provided.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Able to work in a confined space; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps and prints.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing documentation, and photographing each locate.
• These are daytime, full-time positions with a 48-hour turnaround time on many locates; may require work after holidays and some weekends.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts (including nights and weekends).
