Job summary

USIC is seeking a Locator to safely locate underground utilities during daytime fieldwork in Burlington, NC. You’ll work independently with a company vehicle and use dedicated ticketing systems to ensure accurate marks for excavators and property owners.

No prior locating experience is required, but experienced locators are encouraged to apply. We provide 100% paid training and opportunities for advancement in a safety‑driven environment, with a valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces.
• Able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Able to read, understand locate tickets, maps and prints.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary documentation, and photographing each locate.
