R B Hinkle Construction Inc in Sterling, Virginia is seeking an Underground Linework Apprentice to learn the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems under experienced supervision. This role offers hands-on training in trenching, cable pulling, and safety procedures.

You will study blueprints, operate trenchers and backhoes, and progress through a multi-year apprenticeship while earning weekly pay and gaining access to company benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL Class A preferred or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy objects, digging, and working in confined spaces.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Willingness to learn and commit to a multi-year apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Assist journey-level lineworkers with installation, repair, and maintenance of underground electrical cables, conduits, and equipment.
• Learn to read blueprints, schematics, and other technical diagrams.
• Operate and maintain trenchers, backhoes, and cable pullers.
• Perform trenching, excavation, and backfilling.
• Adhere to safety regulations and PPE.
• Participate in training programs and complete required coursework to advance through the apprenticeship program.
• Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis of underground electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
