Job summary

TD&I Cable Maintenance, LLC. seeks an Underground Utility Drill Operator to operate horizontal directional drill rigs, read maps and blueprints, and coordinate with utility companies to minimize service disruptions on installation projects.

Daily equipment inspections, adherence to OSHA/FMCSA/DOT guidelines, and collaboration with the Foreman and crew are essential to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance on every job site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with no major violations in the past 3 years.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
• Proven experience as a Utility Drill Operator.
• Ability to read design prints, locate tickets and permits.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs for equipment operation.
• Excellent attention to detail and physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal directional drill equipment to install underground utilities.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance for safety and efficiency.
• Read maps, plans, and blueprints to locate installation sites and avoid existing utilities.
• Set up and clean up job sites and manage equipment and materials.
• Coordinate with utility companies and contractors to confirm locations and avoid disruption.
• Ensure installations meet quality and regulatory standards and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Foreman and crew.
• Maintain compliance with CDL/tanker endorsements if operating vehicles over 26,000 LBS (FMCSA/DOT).
