Job summary

Five Star Energy Services seeks an Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for underground utility construction projects. The role analyzes project plans, labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs to develop detailed proposals and bid packages.

Qualifications

• Requires strong cost estimation and analytical abilities.
• Experience with underground utility construction estimates is a plus.
• Ability to read plans and travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, drawings, specs, and bid documents to determine scope and estimate requirements.
• Prepare complete cost estimates for underground utility projects including labor, materials, and subcontractors.
• Analyze project risks, site conditions, schedules, and constructability factors affecting costs.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculations for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Develop bid proposals and supporting documentation for submission.
• Coordinate with project managers, field operations, engineering teams, and leadership during estimate development.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information for future use.
• Track awarded and non-awarded projects to improve estimating accuracy.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associate's degree (preferred)
