Job summary

Specialized Communication Services, LLC in Utah seeks an Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment for underground utility installation and repair, including mini excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and skid steers.

You will follow safety standards, verify utility locate markings, assist with site restoration, mentor laborers, and coordinate with the Superintendent, inspectors, and subcontractors across multiple Utah job sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operation in underground utility construction.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and Level 4 background check.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment.
• Experience with trenchless technologies and utility systems preferred.
• MSHA and OSHA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, trenchers, mini-excavators, and skid steers for utility installation and maintenance.
• Verify and follow utility locate markings to prevent damage and ensure safe digging.
• Assist in site restoration, housekeeping, and maintaining a clean work area.
• Train and mentor laborers in safe field practices.
• Conduct inspections and complete safety and equipment paperwork.
• Coordinate with Superintendent, subcontractors, inspectors and crew members.
• Attend safety trainings and participate in JHAs and safety audits.
